About

I entered the field of health coaching after my own battle with scleroderma, an autoimmune condition. As part of my path to recovery, I went to Dr. Mark Hyman’s Ultrawellness Center, embracing the Functional Medicine approach to disease.  Through that process, I learned just how out of balance my body was and worked my way back to wellness with adjustments to my diet and lifestyle and supplementation to address my imbalances and deficiencies.  It was then that I experienced the power of diet and lifestyle on health and knew that I had to share this with the world. If I could prevent one person from going through what I went through, or help one person overcome their autoimmune, I was going to do it.

As a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach and a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, I draw on my experience and education in teaching and communication to work with my clients on getting to the root cause of why they can’t make those changes they are looking for. I have helped clients attain their own self-directed health goals such as: weight loss, calming autoimmune symptoms, lowering blood pressure, and regaining energy and a zest for life. Clients seem to like my approach because it’s fun, individualized and never overwhelming. In the end, I just want my clients to feel as good as they possibly can with the belief that we all have more control over our health than we think.

I have trained at both the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Both programs taught me to respect the individuality of every client and not impose a set "program" onto them. I am familiar with many different ways of eating that can support our health as not everyone thrives on the same foods. When I work with a client, we look at not only food and exercise, but other factors in their lives that may influence their health like stress, sleep and relationships. I have been specially trained at FMCA to partner with Functional Medicine practitioners as I understand their language, tools, labs tests and protocols and can help support the patient with following through with treatment plans.

I am very aware that changing our behaviors is not always easy. There are many reasons we don’t succeed in altering their lifestyles and working with a health coach helps us get in touch with what is holding us back or impeding our success. One of my biggest joys as a coach is having a client share a success that has been elusive in the past because we worked through what was really in the way of making progress.

As for me, I am fortunate to live a full and rich life without physical limitation, grateful to have overcome a scary diagnosis. I enjoy cycling, working out, meditation, travel, introducing her friends to healthy foods, an occasional glass of good wine and walking with my dog. I live in Bend, OR, but am available to coach all over the world via video conference technology.
